The tall brick chimney that has stood by the lake for over a century will be kept and restored as part of a new waterfront park, the city announced on Monday.
Plans include walking and cycling paths, a small museum about the town’s industrial past and a viewing platform with views across the water at sunset.
Work is expected to begin next spring, and the first section of the park could open to the public within two years.
